Caterham 10th April 2014

The clocks have gone forward and people are slowly coming out of winter hibernation.

A record 6 attendees for the first ride from Caterham this year. Thanks Derek and Bob for the guidance.

Setting up ready to go

Initially the route takes us through the quiet back roads of Caterham until the off road section is reach. The trail is then a mix of wide open green parks, woody singletrack and even an airfield.

Dan with his hugely heavy bike. If he had a new light Aluminium bike, I bet he would be whippet quick

I have no idea how I managed to take this picture

Some tough climbs including one which was surfaced by big lumps of hardcore which made it as challenging as any I have seen and another short steep climb surfaced with mulch.

A couple of fast and steep down and up sections on grass where challenging, particularly the second one with a footpath at the low point and a rough transition from down to up. So rough that it broke the mount on the rear facing camera. Thanks to all for going back to look for it and for eagle eye Steve for finding it.

I didn't managed to catch Steve falling off this time as the camera had shut itself off, I did get a hasty snap while he was picking himself up though.

Hopefully the warmer dryer weather and lighter evenings will be enough to keep the group back up to full strength for future rides.
