Swinley Forest 11th January 2014

Despite heavy rain the previous night, the day dawned warm (for January) and sunny. Just Jon and I for this ride, Jon arriving in his new Discovery having just picked it up.

A flat tyre straight away didn't bode well, but once fixed neither of us had any further mechanical issues.

Unfortunately due to the bad weather some of the trails were shut to prevent further deterioration before they could repair. This lead to a slightly confused route, at one stage ending up on the return leg meaning that we had to ride the out leg of the blue again to get to the red, but that was no real hardship.

Some riders didn't seem to have the same trouble as they ignored the route shut notices and rode anyway, nice and selfish and probably leaving more work for the trail builders to do.

2 3/4 hours of enjoyable riding, although there were some very muddy bits.

Chest mount worked very well, other than the annoying flappy helmet strap, I'll make sure that is secured out of camera view next time.

I'll stick some more dates in the diary for the future.
